It’s that time of year again-can you smell it in the air?! The scent of pumpkin pie spice wafting out of all the coffee shops. I, like many others, look forward to the pumpkin coffee and lattes being released every autumn. It is a sure sign that the cool weather and changing leaves are upon us! As I was sipping my coffee house pumpkin latte one morning, I thought, I love to cook from scratch as much as possible, so why am I not making my own pumpkin coffee?! Not to mention the fact that most coffee shops are using artificially flavored syrups.
What if I told you, you could whip up a big batch of spiced pumpkin milk to put in your coffee in 5 minutes, and not only will it taste BETTER than the coffee house, but it will actually be good for you!?
Keep on reading, and I’ll show you how!
Pumpkin Spice Latte
(Makes About 3 Cups Pumpkin Milk)
+ 2 cups milk (whole milk is my preference, but any kind will do)
+ 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
+ 1 teaspoon cinnamon
+ 1/4 teaspoon ginger
+ 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
+ 1/8 teaspoon cloves
(You can also add sugar to the milk, or just add it by cup. I added about 1/8 cup sugar)
This is just about as simple as it gets: Mix it ALL together! Add as much as you’d like to your coffee (about half and half for a latte). You can store it in the refrigerator for at least a week. You may need to stir it everytime you use it, as the pumpkin and spices tend to settle. Top with fresh whipped cream, if you’d like!
