Have I mentioned yet that stuffing is my favorite part of Thanksgiving?! If you gave me an entire plate of this stuff, I’d be completely happy. This recipe is the BEST classic stuffing. I love making unique flavor combinations, but if you want the homemade version of Stove top…this is it!
It’s so easy to make from scratch, that there’s really no reason to use the box. If you’ve never had homemade stuffing…you don’t know what you’re missing! Give it a try this year and you won’t be dissapointed!!
Classic Stuffing
Serves 8
What You’ll Need:
+ 1/2 cup butter
+ 1 cup finely chopped onion
+ 1/2 cup finely chopped celery
+ 6 ounces sliced mushrooms
+ 6 cups dry bread cubes
+ few sprigs fresh sage and thyme, minced
+ 1 teaspoon each salt and pepper
+ 2- 1/4 cups chicken broth
+ 1 egg, beaten
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt the butter in a skillet. Cook the onions, mushrooms, and celery in the butter until soft.
Spoon over bread in a mixing bowl. Add the remaining ingredients. Spoon into a casserole dish. Bake 45 minutes.
