I love cooking from scratch, as you may have guessed, and similarly, I like making lots of other things from scratch. Beauty products being one of them. Most of the time, all you need is ingredients right from your kitchen!
If you’re not a fan of beauty products and you’re here for the food, fear not. I will be posting an extra special menu tomorrow!
I love making my own products at home. Not only can you use all natural ingredients, but it ends up saving you tons of money. Believe it or not, a lot of the ingredients I use are cheap, everyday items that turn out to be the most LUXURIOUS concoctions. Pumpkin Sugar Scrub is no different. I gave a few jars away to my friends, and they could not believe how incredible it made their skin feel. They also didn’t believe that it could be as simple as pumpkin, sugar, and olive oil. Oh, but it is my lovlies, it is. Take a guess at how much this whole big jar cost to make. Anyone? 90 cents and 5 minutes of your time. (It’ll take you longer to read this post). Seriously. Any pumpkin scrub you’d buy from a store would cost $8 at a minimum, and some cost as much as $30 for a small tub. Do yourself a favor: save that money and skip out on all the extra weird ingredients! Pamper yourself and enjoy the delicious and spicy scent of fall.
Pumpkin Sugar Scrub
What You’ll Need:
+ 1/2 cup pumpkin
+ 1 cup sugar (you can use brown for a scrubbier texture, or granulated for finer)
+ 1 Tablespoon olive oil
+ 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice (or just cinnamon if you prefer)
Combine it all together. Phew, that was tough! 😉
What are the benefits of these ingredients to your skin? Here’s the low down.
Pumpkin: packed with alpha hydroxy acids which brighten and smooth the skin. Vitamin A and C boost collagen production.
Sugar: acts as an exfoliant, buffing off dead skin cells to keep skin healthy and glowing
Olive Oil: One of the best moisturizers for the skin. It is said to be the closest match to the oil that our bodies produce.
Cinnamon: helps purify and clear your skin. Proven to help get rid of acne and other trouble spots.
