Home Alone: Christmas Movie Menu

Well, I’m back! If only temporarily, I have found a little motivation to blog today. For those of you who didn’t read my last post, we had a house fire two weeks ago and lost everything. I won’t get into it again on this post, but that is the reason for my recent absence.

Anyway, this is a post I did last year (please excuse the pictures I know they aren’t the best, and I don’t have the originals anymore because of the fire). I just had to repost it. However, because it was such a fun menu to make, and really enjoyable to eat while watching home alone. I hope you enjoy, and there will be more NEW Christmas movie menus to come!

Home Alone is one of those classic Christmas movies that is a must watch this time of the year. Every time my family has movie nights, I like to make a fun menu to go along with it. I don’t know about you, but every time I watch Home Alone, I CRAVE pizza. It makes me genuinely want a whole cheese pizza, just for me. This recipe is one that I’ve worked on for years, because I could never seem to make homemade pizza the same way as a good pizza place does it. I think I’ve finally mastered it with this recipe. The crust is crunchy and chewy, and the cheese is lightly crisp and ooey gooey!

“A Lovely Cheese Pizza, Just for Me”

Makes 1 12 inch pizza

What You’ll Need:

+ 1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
+ 1 teaspoon white sugar
+ 1 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
+ 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
+ 2 tablespoons olive oil
+ 1 teaspoon salt

+ 1/2 cup pizza sauce

+ 8 ounces mozzarella cheese

+ 1/4 cup parmesan cheese

+ 1 clove garlic

+ 2 Tablespoons butter

+ 1 teaspoon each oregano, salt, and pepper

Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let stand until frothy and creamy, about 10 minutes. Stir in flour, salt and oil. Beat until smooth. Let sit for 5 minutes more. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and roll into a round, creating a small lip for the crust. Transfer crust to greased pizza pan dusted with cornmeal. Ladle sauce evenly over pizza. Sprinkle with cheeses. Melt the butter and garlic together, and spoon over the crust. This gives a delicious flavor and makes it golden brown. Sprinkle spices on the top of pizza. Bake in preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Let pizza cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Next up is the classic popcorn scene. You know what I’m talking about, where Kevin is jumping up and down on the bed, popcorn spilling everywhere, dancing around the house like a mad man? Yet again another thing I always crave when watching this movie. There’s nothing like an amazing box of popcorn!

Last but certainly not least, we cannot forget about good old Fuller. What could go better with pizza and popcorn than some Pepsi.  This is a special dessert drink to end the meal perfectly. Just don’t be like Fuller, go easy.

I hope you enjoy this menu as much as I did making it, and have a fun movie night with family and friends.
