Breaking Bad: Blue Crystal Margaritas

Now that we have learned how to make our own blue crystal (click here to see the tutorial), we can continue on with our Breaking Bad menu!

When I was thinking about what foods to put on the menu, I instantly thought Margarita for the drink. Remember Hank’s famous margaritas? It just seemed appropriate. Then I thought, why not make it blue?! And rather than add sugar to the rim, add blue rock crystals! I cannot get enough of this drink. It’s cold, sweet and sour, and every time you take a sip you get that extra sugary goodness from the blue crystal rim. I kept the crystals chunky and scattered, rather than finely ground to keep it to the blue crystal theme.

Blue Crystal Margaritas

(Measurements Per Drink)

What You’ll Need:

+ 1-1/2 ounce tequila

+ 1 ounce blue curacao liquor

+ 1 oz. lime juice

+ 1 cup crushed ice

+ 4 Tablespoons Simple Syrup (or more depending on how sweet you like it)

+ Blue crystals for decoration

Rub the rim of the glass with a lime, roll the side of the glass in a plate of the blue crystals. If they don’t stick well, just hold them into place for a second, they will stick. Place all of the remaining ingredients in a blender until it is a slush consistency. Pour into the glass, and enjoy.

TIP: If you are making these for a crowd, make a big batch and store it in an ice cream maker. It will keep it mixed and cold all night!
