Why, Hello there Stranger!
It’s been a while since we last met at A Pinch Here, A Dash There. For that, I apologize, but I’ve been extremely busy and preoccupied with sand between my toes, sea salty air in my hair, swimming in the ocean, soaking up the sun, and boardwalk fun. All while enjoying time spent with my amazing family.
It’s a tough job, but somebody has to do it!
While I’m collecting my thoughts from this ‘HECTIC’ week, as well as some amazing recipes, I thought I’d share a bit of my fun week with you guys and gals.
I wish I had gotten more photos, and truth be told, I feel weird posting too many photos of my family publicly without their permission (even though I’m sure they don’t mind). But, there’s a few fun tips and ideas that I wanted to share that are beach essential for me!
Our family beach vacations are a traditon that I look forward to so much. We’ve been going since I was born, so there’s a nostalgic, comforting feeling about it, it’s truly a second home to me. I’m always amazed at how quickly the vacation comes and goes, so it’s fun to reflect a bit on what we did.
When we arrived, it was a rainy, dreary day, but the beach still always looks beautiful! There’s just something amazing about sitting and listening to the waves crash against the shore.
Since we were there for Father’s Day weekend, I made my Dads favorite: Crab Cakes and Creamy Succotash. It was a hit (Recipes coming soon).
My Niece is always a whiz at games, and always wins millions of tickets! She’s the cutest. I really had a blast spending more time with her this week 🙂
It was so nice to be able to just sit back and relax with a glass of wine, and then off to an incredible dinner. I felt pretty spoiled all week. I barely had to lift a finger! (Thanks family!)
At dinner, we had this amazing appetizer. It was chicken and lemongrass dumplings, tempura fried shrimp, crab cakes, and calamari in a sweet chili sauce. I’m telling you right now, that chili sauce is like crack (in a good way-is there a good way?), and I am determined to replicate it. Determined I tell you!!
I had the whole beach to myself one morning, and I sipped coffee, watched the dolphins in the distance, and relaxed. Good Morning, Indeed!
We headed to the aquarium and saw all kinds of fun stuff. The sharks and the penguins were our favorites!
Soaking up the sun and getting that Vitamin D! 😉
Even on vacation, I bring along my text books to study. It is fun for me, after all. I love constantly learning new techniques and skills.
We enjoyed an incredible breakfast at this cute little place on the bay. These are some amazing chocolate chip pancakes!
Pink SKy at Night, Sailors Delight. This was my favorite evening. We had crazy storms in the late afternoon, and as soon as it cleared, the sky lit up in reds, oranges, purples, and blues. It was quite a sight. I ended up sitting there until the sun was gone, just captivated by its beauty.
Something I never go to the beach without! My green tea body mist. It’s literally just cold green tea in a spray bottle, but it is the best! Not only is it cool and refreshing, but the antioxidants in the green tea help protect and repair your skin after hours in the sun. Of course, I wear sunscreen religiously, but this is an extra little treat!
On our last night, I made Scallops and RIsotto for my Mom’s Birthday. Check out that sear! (I think Ramsay would be proud) 😉
My brother, Niece and I enjoyed riding around on UTV Dune Buggies on the beach. It was a blast. Head to my Instagram to see a video!
