Peppermint Sugar Scrub DIY

I just love making my own body products- especially when they’re themed around the season! Peppermint sugar scrub is so cheap and easy to make, but it feels sooo luxurious and makes my skin feel incredible. The peppermint is refreshing and clean, and invigorates and wakes up my senses!

All you need are items from your kitchen! It only cost me about $0. 20 cents to make (not including the jar). It honestly feels just as nice as a $40 jar of sugar scrub! Plus, it uses all natural ingredients that are good for your skin.

This is a great DIY Holiday/Christmas gift to make for your friends or family.  They won’t believe what a simple product it is, and it will make their days merry and bright!

Peppermint Sugar Scrub

Makes 1 Jar

What You’ll Need:

+ 1/2 cup granulated sugar

+ 2 Tablespoon olive oil

+ 5 drops peppermint essential oil (or more if you like)

+ few drops red food coloring

If you want to get that candy cane striped look in the jar, divide the sugar into two bowls. Add 1 Tablespoon olive oil to each bowl, and a few drops peppermint to each bowl. Add a few drops of red food coloring to ONE of the bowls. Mix until the color is distributed evenly.

**NOTE: Be careful not to use too much red food coloring. I did that the first time, and my hands turned red when I used it ;). Add 2 drops and only add more if you need it. You will be surprised as to how far the food coloring goes once you mix it well.

Now, layer the two sugars in a jar, add a label if you’d like, and Voila! You can double, even triple the recipe and make a bunch at once. Be sure to save yourself one!! XOXO

  1. Ok, so i just made three little jars of this and used the leftover on the backs of my really dry hands…..Wow! Scrubbed my hands and put lotion on them….BIG DIFFERENCE! Thank you for posting this. I used red and blue food coloring and made one jar with blue and white, one with red and white then one with leftovers of all three. So the third is a red white and blue. thank you again!

    • Oh, awesome!! So glad to hear it worked well for you! I always love to hear the feedback. It has become my favorite scrub, so itswonderfulto hear that others are enjoying it so much, too!! 😀
Red, white, and blue is a great idea!

    • Hello there! I mentioned in the post that the first time I made it, I added too much dye which made my hands a little red. So, if you try to add the bare minimum of dye, it shouldn’t at all. I used 2 drops and it no longer dyes my skin. You could also purchase a mica pigmented powder to color it if you want to play it safe! 🙂
