I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!! I had such a great day with my family. I feel very blessed to live so closely to my family as it is, and we get to see eachother often. But, I think that Thanksgiving is a nice reminder of how thankful we are for eachother and everything we have. The day honestly went SO fast, and I hate to say that Alex and I didn’t take a SINGLE photo with our cameras. But, we did get a few snaps on Instagram. We are a little late to the Instagram game. Neither of us used it very often, but now I like to post some outtakes of my cooking and life on there. So, if you have Instagram, be sure to go over and follow me!
1.) To start off the morning, I made Hot Orange Mochas to drink while we cooked. They were incredible. Sweet, spicy, and a hint of citrus. It sort of tasted like a chocolate orange. Here’s what you do: Brew a pot of coffee(10c). Add orange peel, 1 tsp. cinnamon, 1/4 c. brown sugar, and 2 Tbsp. cocoa to the pot once it’s done brewing and stir. Let sit for 10 minutes before serving. If you don’t want to put that stuff in your coffee pot, you can transfer it to a pot on the stove. It is divine- and makes me wonder why I don’t always drink my coffee like that! It was a good way to wake up and get in the holiday spirit!
2.) This is a photo of my Grandparents that my Mom took back in the late 50’s early 60’s. I’m pretty sure it was Thanksgiving, and it’s my all time favorite photo. Since I was a baby, my favorite thing is looking through old photos. So, everytime I’m at my parents, I do just that! I guess I’m a very nostalgic soul.
3.) Look at that beauty of a turkey! It was delicious, if I do say so myself! And so was everything else in the meal. My Mom and sister helped with everything, and my sister also made an amazing Green Bean Casserole from scratch. I may need to grab her recipe! Just incredible.
4) Ahhh. Time to get the stretchy pants on and unwind by the fireplace. My doggie and fella enjoying it. 🙂
5) Oh, wait! Time to stuff some pie in too. Here’s my pumpkin pie with a braided crust. I used my homemade pumpkin puree and it was delightful! Like my vintage pie tin? It’s my favorite.
I wish I had captured more of the day, but I guess every once in a while you need a break from all the social media and cameras, and just sit back and enjoy the moment.
