Divine Dinner Rolls

This roll recipe is my go to for any kind of roast dinner, especially on Thanksgiving. These dinner rolls are light and fluffy, chewy and crispy, and have a subtle buttery flavor. They are also very customizable. Add some herbs, or parmesan cheese, for example. If you tend to buy the pre made kind of rolls for Thanksgiving or the holidays, consider trying a batch of these first. They’re a lot simpler to make than most people think, and the flavors and textures are purely unbeatable.

I think people often skip making rolls because they seem like a lot of work, but quite the contrary! They’re perfect to make while youre assembling other dishes. To prove it, I timed how much actual work I did (and Im not a fast cook, believe me). Literally 20 minutes. 1-1/2 hours of resting time. So, all that time theyre resting, you could be making other stuff! in the end, you’ll be rewarded with: Perfect Dinner Rolls!

Divine Dinner Rolls

Make 12-18 Rolls

What You’ll Need:

                             + 3- 1/2  cups all purpose flour

+ 1 egg

                                        + 1-1/4 up warm milk

+ 1 teaspoon salt

+ 2 teaspoons active dry yeast

+ 1/4 cup butter, melted (optional)

+ 1/4 cup sugar

+ 1/4 cup butter, softened

Pour milk into a large mixing bowl, and sprinkle in the yeast. Allow to rest 5 minutes until it gets a little foamy. Beat the eggs, sugar, softened butter, and salt into the yeast mixture. Stir in the flour until it forms a not sticky-but not dry kind of dough. Cover the bowl and let rise in a warm place for about an hour. Put the dough on a lightly floured surface, and knead with the palms of your hand for about a minute. Break up the dough into 3 inch pieces, and roll lightly with your hands to form rolls. Cover again, and let rise until they double in size (about 30 mins). Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F, and grease a baking dish (9×13). Bake rolls for about 10-15 minutes, or until they’re golden brown. If you prefer, drizzle melted butter on the tops of them.
